National: A designation on tournament schedules, part of the tournament number, indicating a tournament is a National Open Tournament. Such a tournament is listed on the USA-NSA Championship Tournaments schedule and may also appear on the tournament schedule for the state and/or District where the tournament takes place. (Example: "N01" is the first National open event of the season.)

National Amateur: A designation on tournament schedules, part of the tournament number, indicating a tournament is a National Amateur Tournament. Such a tournament is listed on the USA-NSA Championship Tournaments schedule and may also appear on the tournament schedule for the state and/or District where the tournament takes place. (Example: "NA01" is the first National amateurs-only event of the season.)

(of a disc or position on the board) More towards the center of the court than normally targeted. (Example: "His St. Pete was too narrow, allowing his opponent to use it as his own Tampa.")

A designation for a doubles tournament that does not allow teams of two Pro players. A team must consist of one Pro player and one Amateur player, or of two Amateur players. Syn: WILD.

(of a disc) On the board but not as a scoring disc. Syn: NO COUNT.

DEAD ZONE.

1. A singles game wherein the players shoot from the same end of the court for all frames. Often, there are two players at the head of the court competing in a non-walking singles game and two other players at the foot competing in a separate non-walking singles game, with both games scored on the same scoreboard but in separate columns or rows. If only one game is being played on the court, usually someone is assigned to the court to be the pusher. 2. A singles tournament format wherein players compete in matches of non-walking singles games. Syn: NWS.

Non-Restricted: A designation on some Florida District tournament schedules for a tournament that allows any player in the District to participate regardless of player status, including District Amateurs, State Amateurs and Pros.
