I
Ice Cream Social
A colors (def. 1) tournament at the end of which the winners are each given a free ice cream treat and the losers have to pay for their ice cream treat (or every player gets a free ice cream treat but the winners get first pick).
Idiot Line
CENTERLINE. So named due to the often seen poor execution of the hammer shot to land touching the centerline instead of a scoring disc, making the shooter look foolish.
If You Can't See 'Em, Join 'Em
An expression that signifies a strategy to score a disc behind a guard as a response to your opponent having done the same, as an alternative to trying to clear or expose your opponent's well-hidden scoring disc.
The specific result a player decides the current half-round or sequence must accomplish after considering the score, who has the hammer, and who is strategically ahead. In Estes' Modular System, shot and play choices are judged by how well they advance this goal.
In
In a direction away from a side of the court towards the centerline.
In Front Of
In a position that is closer to the shooters than a particular disc or location on the board.
In Play
Any disc that is a live disc. The cue disc is in play as soon as it fully crosses the 7/10-Off line at the shooting end during a shot.
In the Kitchen
(of a disc) Scoring in the 10-Off.
Inside
The side closest to the center of the board. (Example: “She shot to the inside of the 7, landing next to the centerline for a perfect hide.”)
International
A designation for the annual World Championship Tournament conducted by the International Shuffleboard Association.
