Privacy Policy
How CourtShuffleboard.com handles information you provide and technical data generated while you use the site.
This policy describes the current operation of CourtShuffleboard.com. Different parts of the site collect different information depending on what you choose to do—for example, reading public pages, searching the site, leaving a comment, submitting an article, creating or using a WordPress account, or using Shuffleboard Partner Connect.
Who we are
CourtShuffleboard.com is a free resource site for the sport of court shuffleboard. The website address is https://courtshuffleboard.com/.
For privacy questions or requests about personal information held by the site, contact the site administrator.
Comments
When you leave a comment, WordPress collects the information shown in the comment form. The site also receives the visitor’s IP address and browser user-agent information for moderation, security, and spam detection. Commenters are currently required to provide a name and email address.
Comments are checked using Akismet Anti-spam. Information associated with a comment may be sent to Automattic’s Akismet service for spam analysis. The site currently displays Akismet’s privacy notice with the comment form.
Avatars are enabled. An anonymized value created from the email address you use for a comment may be sent to the Gravatar service to determine whether you have a Gravatar. If a comment is approved, the associated avatar may be shown publicly with the comment.
Comments and their metadata are normally retained indefinitely so later comments can be recognized and moderated appropriately.
Article submissions and other Forminator forms
The Become an Author page uses a moderated Article Submission form. Depending on what you provide, the form can collect your name, email address, public author name, optional author bio, submission type, working title, description of the submission, article text, uploaded supporting files, source and permission information, and required rights/editorial confirmations.
The Contact & Subscribe page uses a separate Forminator form. It collects first name, last name, and email address and requires a Yes or No subscription choice. You may also provide a phone number and questions/comments. If you choose Yes, the form also requires you to answer whether you are in the West Coast District (Pinellas County, FL, USA) and reveals Home Club, City, State/Province, and Country fields that you may also provide.
Forminator also records the IP address associated with a form submission. The current Forminator privacy settings preserve form submissions and their IP information until they are manually deleted or the retention settings are changed. WordPress account-erasure requests do not automatically remove these Forminator submissions under the site’s current settings.
The Article Submission form stores submissions for editorial review. Uploaded supporting files are stored with the submission and are not automatically placed in the public WordPress Media Library. Submitted information is also used to send an administrator notification and a confirmation email to the submitter.
The Contact/Subscribe form stores submissions for site administration, sends an administrator notification, and sends a confirmation email to the email address provided. A Yes subscription choice records your request to receive CourtShuffleboard.com news & events. When Sender.net integration is enabled, a Yes-subscription submission sends the information needed to create or update your email subscription with Sender.net, the site’s email service provider. That information includes your email address, first and last name, Home Club if provided, a CourtShuffleboard source value, and your WCD or Non-WCD classification. A Yes answer to the West Coast District question also sets the Sender subscriber District field to WCD. A No-subscription submission is not sent to Sender.net for a marketing subscription.
The Article Submission and Contact/Subscribe forms use Akismet for spam protection and Forminator’s native Cloudflare Turnstile integration for automated-abuse protection. A form submission is not automatically published as a WordPress Post or Page.
Shuffleboard Partner Connect
Shuffleboard Partner Connect (SPC) helps players find tournament partners and communicate about partner requests.
Information SPC can collect
When you submit or update a partner request, SPC can store information such as your name, nickname, email address, phone number, preferred contact method, gender, skill information, tournament or availability information, partner preferences, comments, consent choices, subscription choice, and administrator-managed request information. Public display is controlled by SPC’s display rules; email addresses and phone numbers are not intended for public display.
When you send an interest or contact message through SPC, the system can store the sender’s name, email address, phone number, preferred contact method, gender, skill information, message, consent choices, delivery results, IP address, and browser user-agent information. SPC also maintains administrative email-history and internal-note records related to partner requests.
Why SPC uses and shares information
SPC uses this information to operate partner requests, calculate and display potential matches, let interested players contact one another, let players securely update requests, send request and matching-related email, assist the Partner Coordinator, prevent abuse, and maintain operational records. Information authorized by a player may be shared privately with the Partner Coordinator and with another player for the purpose of finding or communicating with a potential tournament partner.
Cloudflare Turnstile in SPC
For protected Partner Connect forms, SPC sends the submitted Turnstile response token to Cloudflare for server-side verification and may include the connecting IP address with that verification request.
SPC retention
SPC removes stored IP addresses and browser user-agent information from interest/contact records after 30 days. Closed Partner Requests (Partner Found, Withdrawn, or Expired) and interest/contact records are retained for up to 30 months. Requests moved to SPC Trash are retained for up to 180 days. Expired update-request credentials retain only the minimum information needed to let an old secure link obtain a replacement link; obsolete browser-session and target-email data is removed after 30 days. Related operational records are removed when the associated request reaches its retention limit.
Accounts, login, registration, and password reset
If you have a WordPress user account, the site stores the profile information associated with that account. Logged-in users can generally view or edit their own profile information except for fields WordPress does not permit them to change, and site administrators can view or edit account information as needed to administer the site.
Standard WordPress cookies may be used to determine whether your browser accepts cookies and, when you log in, to remember your login state and screen/display preferences. If you request a password reset, technical information such as your IP address may be included or processed as part of the security and reset workflow.
Site search
The site’s internal search uses Relevanssi. Search logging is currently enabled. Logged search information can include the search terms, number of results found, user ID for a logged-in user, date and time, and the visitor’s IP address. IP logging is currently enabled for security, auditing, and search-quality purposes.
Relevanssi search logs are currently retained for 99 days before automatic removal under the site’s configured logging settings.
Security and anti-abuse services
Cloudflare Turnstile
Cloudflare Turnstile is used to help distinguish legitimate visitors from automated abuse. Turnstile protection is enabled on the site’s WordPress login, registration, password-reset, and comment forms, and the Article Submission form uses Forminator’s native Turnstile integration. Certain Partner Connect forms may also use Turnstile protection.
When Turnstile runs, the visitor’s browser communicates with Cloudflare. Cloudflare describes Turnstile as processing security signals such as IP address, TLS/browser characteristics, user-agent information, and site/origin information for bot detection. Cloudflare states that Turnstile does not transmit the contents of form entries as part of that security check. See the Cloudflare Turnstile Privacy Addendum.
Wordfence
The site uses Wordfence Security to protect the website, accounts, and administrative systems. Wordfence may process security-related information such as visitor IP addresses, requested URLs, request headers, user/account information where applicable, and other request or threat data needed for firewall, login-security, malware-detection, and auditing functions. Some security-related data may be processed through Wordfence/Defiant services. See the Wordfence Privacy Policy.
Akismet and Gravatar
Akismet and Gravatar are Automattic services. Akismet may process commenter or form-submission information for spam protection, and Gravatar may process an anonymized email-derived value to provide an avatar. See Automattic’s Privacy Policy.
Cookies and similar technologies
If you leave a comment, you may be offered the option to save your name, email address, and website in cookies for convenience. WordPress normally keeps those comment-preference cookies for one year.
When you visit or use a WordPress login page, WordPress may set temporary and login-related cookies. Login cookies normally last for two days, screen/display-option cookies for one year, and a “Remember Me” login can persist for two weeks. Logging out removes the login cookies.
Security services such as Cloudflare Turnstile may use strictly necessary browser signals or cookies as part of bot detection and abuse prevention. Third-party embedded content may set its own cookies as described below.
Embedded content and external websites
Pages and articles may include embedded content or links from other websites, such as videos, images, documents, maps, or articles. Embedded content can behave as though you visited the third-party website directly. Those third parties may collect information, use cookies, or monitor interaction with their content according to their own privacy policies. CourtShuffleboard.com does not control those third-party practices.
